Strike in Belgium

Due to a general strike in Belgium on 30/1/12, we expect serious problems that day. The ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge will be not easy accessible and several terminals will be closed. This will have consequences for our work. EKB will do its upmost best, but without any guarantee to eventual closings and/or delays.

Prenotice PSA terminals Antwerp

Dear Clients,

We hereby inform you about important changes in prenotice procedures at PSA terminals in Antwerp. As you know, since 2 months we are obliged to prebook every visit tot PSA terminal in order to have priority and in order not to loose any time.  This procedure is not adapted to the requirements of road hauliers. However, until now we done our upmost best in order to respect this procedure, as imposed by PSA.  But now PSA announces further important changes. Every prebooking of visit has to be done now at least 10 hours upfront, if it is later done there will be no priority anymore.  As you understand, it is completely impossible to do every prebooking of visit 10 hours upfront.

We hereby inform you that these unilateral changes by PSA will inevitably create important problems. It will become very difficult to respect closing dates and it will cause important delays in deliveries, for which we as road haulier will not be liable. Supplementary costs for all extra work required from us will be due.

We will keep you informed about further evolution in this case.

ECL awarded Authorised Economic Operator (AEO-F)

As of December 10th 2009 EKB Container Logistik GmbH & Co. KG (ECL) has been awarded with the prestigious Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status by the Customs Authority Bremen.

The overall aim of the AEO programme is to provide security for the international supply
chain starting from the manufacturer of goods and finishing with delivery to the end-user.

ECL was granted the highest AEO Certification category: Customs simplifications / Security
and safety - AEO F, which can described as the seal of approval of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), and it is recognized throughout the European Union.

Obtaining this certification means enjoying various privileges in connection with customclearance procedures like for example the simplification of otherwise complex customs regulations.

In return of these privileges ECL had to prove that its operation comply with stringent security,
reliability, solvency and legal-compliance requirements.

Furthermore, participating companies must have a transparent organisation of their customs processes and appropriate security procedures against unauthorised access to goods or data.

Contracts are only awarded to business-partners and subcontractors who have either themselves obtained AEO certification, or who have given a written assurance that their professional services comply with AEO safety criteria.

ECL now is able to provide even quicker handling services combined with fast-tracking
throughout German Customs Authorities – esp. NCTS-Procedures using the ATLAS-System.
Companies with an AEO certificate will be recognized world wide as safe, secure and compliant business partners.
